Myrthe van Drunen – Quaestor
Sienna van der Poel – Assessor
Our board would like to introduce itself to you!
Hello everyone!
My name is Maaike van den Berg and this year it is my honor to fulfill the role of president of Sophia Aeterna. I am 19 years old and I come from a small village called Maasland, which is close to Delft. Last year I started the Bachelor Classics so this year I will be following second-year courses. When I am not inside or close to the Lipsius building, I will most likely be at Asopos, a student rowing association, where I row and have drinks with my teammates. Naturally, I could very well be in my room in Leiden if I am there, I’m usually playing my guitar or reading a (somewhat classics related) book.
As president of Sophia Aeterna, I will be the contact person for the association. I will also chair the General Assemblies and take care of the introductions of the monthly newsletter. In addition to that, together with my board members and our committees, I help organize the countless activities that make Sophia so much fun. Despite the fact that the lustrum year has come to an end, that does not mean that the activities will become less fun. On the contrary, I look forward to seeing many of you at the fantastic activities we will be organizing this year!
Lots of love,
Maaike

Hello everyone!
My name is Maud van Es and I am 22 years old. Besides starting the one-year classics master this year, I will fill the position of secretary in the board of Sophia! This means that I will be responsible for the minutes of all meetings and the administration of the association. Furthermore, I will send a lot of emails: if you send a mail to Sophia, chances are that I will answer it! I will also take care of the newsletters this year.
Something more about myself: I am born in Amsterdam, a beautiful city, and moved to The Hague (also a beautiful city) when I was ten years old. I am now living in Leiden for some time. Like most classics students, I like to read in my free time, preferably while drinking a cup of tea. Moreover, I like to cycle or hike in nature. And of course, I love to go to the activities of Sophia! I am very much looking forward to organizing a lot of fun, but also educational, activities. I hope to see you there!
Love,
Maud

Hi everyone!
My name is Myrthe van Drunen and I am Sophia’s treasurer. I’m 21 years old and I was born and raised in a small town on Voorne Putten, called Vierpolders. This year I will complete my bachelor’s and take a few courses from Ancient Near Eastern studies. If I’m not studying - or busy with Sophia activities - I teach second and third year students Greek and Latin at my old high school. In my free time, I like to read and make music.
As treasurer, I keep track of all financial aspects of our study association, so I am responsible for the budget and realisation, keeping all receipts and paying for everyone’s first beverage at a drink. I really enjoy these tasks, because I like to work precisely and love tables and Excel-formulas. I look forward to organising all different kinds of activities, so there will be activities for everyone; from first-year bachelor’s to (international) master students.
Hopefully I will see you all at upcoming activities!
Love,
Myrthe

Hi everyone!
My name is Sienna van der Poel and I am Sophia's commissioner. As commissioner, I have many different tasks, the most important one is to keep an eye on our committees, but also maintaining relations with other associations. Apart from this, I am also responsible for the books ordered from Atheneum. Lastly, I support my board members wherever I can.
Some info about me: I am 20 years old and come from the beautiful Heemskerk in North-Holland. I am a third-year student and besides Classics, I sometimes dabble in philosophy. I love keeping myself busy, so don’t be surprised if you see me running through Lipsius in between lectures and meetings. I am always open for a chat, so for tips and tops, questions and comments, ideas or anything, you can always contact me!
I hope to see you at our great activities, or just in the corridors of the Lipsius!
Love,
Sienna
